Located in the heart of Fitzrovia and 5 minutes walk from Oxford Street, this former Victorian toilet has been lovingly transformed into one of London’s top speciality coffee & brunch cafes. Built around 1890 and mothballed in the 1960’s, the Attendant was dormant for more than fifty years. After two-years’ of planning and restoration, the original Doulton & Co porcelain urinals have become an inspired line with green seating to match the original Victorian floor tiles.
They pull their very own seasonal espresso blend direct from the Attendant Roastery through the shiny La Marzocco Linea GB5 as well as single origin filters from around the world via V60 Drip or Aeropress.
They serve up seasonal home-style breakfast, brunch, lunch menus daily until 4pm as well as granola and other treats direct from the Attendant Kitchen. They also sell beans and high quality brewing equipment. Using organic unhomogenised Estate Dairy milk and The Rare Tea Co. loose leaf teas.
Unfortunately, they don’t take reservations as they find it fairest to operate on a first come first serve basis.
The concept has been developed from entrepreneurial duo, Bosh McKeown and Ryan De Oliveira, who have a vision of creating innovative quality & service focused brunch cafes.
The Attendant is built on a philosophy of creating experiences for communities through quality products, innovations and an ever-evolving vision.
The cafe has been designed as a welcoming space to bring people together from all walks of life. A place to take a moment, gather your thoughts and refuel.
Remaining true to their philosophy, the Attendant provides a wholesome, produce-driven seasonal menu that is fresh, fun & innovative.
When it comes to coffee, the Attendant believes in taste, quality and sustainability. Furthering the sustainable coffee trade by paying a higher price for a higher quality product. The roasting is done in a way to release the inherent flavour profile of the beans, honouring the hard work the farmers & growers put in at origin.
Since opening in 2013, the Attendant has now developed into a coffee roastery, cafe and kitchen, with the intention of bringing permaculture back to UK cafe culture.
