  • Christmas Market at TATE Modern Tate Modern, Bankside London, SE1 9TG United Kingdom (map)

Traditional Christmas Market at Tate Modern, London

Xmas Markets Ltd will return to this fantastic location for the third year in a row.  The response to this new market is very positive and it is now very much a ‘MUST DO’ event during the busy run-up to Christmas in London. A change to the layout has been made to accommodate a wonderful Victorian Carousel for the little ones (and the grown up little ones). You can also hop onto our little kiddy ride if the carousel is too daring for you!

The Christmas Market at Tate Modern really does bring back the real Christmas feeling to Tate Modern, Bankside London, transforming the northern landscape of Tate Modern into a Christmassy attraction for the whole family.

Beautiful authentically decorated wooden chalets will sell a wide range of unique hand-crafted gifts and unusual Christmas presents. Many delightful products are offered in a magical winter atmosphere. Sip a warming “Glühwein” (German Mulled Wine), enjoy a famous Bratwurst or indulge yourself with roasted nuts, gingerbread hearts and many other delicious treats. As well as shopping, the carousel within the Christmas Market and traditional Christmas music will enthrall visitors, filling them with the Christmas spirit. Also you can find a Christmas Grotto to meet Santa as well a “Thomas, the steam engine” as a little kiddy ride.

Tate Modern is a modern art gallery located in London right at the Thames. The footfall per annum of Tate Modern is approximately 4,8 million visitors without a seasonal event. It is Britain’s national gallery of international modern art and forms part of the Tate group and the most-visited modern art gallery in the world, with around 4.7 million visitors per year.

The Tate Modern Christmas Market is ideally located to start a London excursion – close to the famous St. Paul’s Cathedral (via the Millennium Bridge), Shakespeare Globe and Borough Market.

Getting to our Christmas Market could not be simpler – it is easily reached via public transport, with the closest station at Blackfriars via its new south entrance. Other nearby stations include Southwark, as well as St Paul’s and Mansion House north of the river which can be reached via the Millennium Bridge. There is also the bankside pier just outside the Christmas Market with regular passenger boat services up and down the Thames (commuter service) and the Tate to Tate service, which connects Tate Modern with Tate Britain.

A drop off / pick up point for the coaches is situated on Millbank, just outside the main entrance of Tate Britain.
