GDIF is the UK's leading free festival, which promotes ambition, diversity and inclusivity within the arts. GDIF forms part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals, an annual series of high-quality events organised by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, and is the flagship annual event produced by FESTIVAL.ORG.

Taking place from 27th August to 11th September, the festival is running for two weeks, giving you the opportunity to experience different art forms on the various days, all for FREE.

One of the experiences includes Borealis, a mesmerising installation that mimics the Northern Lights, bringing its beauty to countries all over the world. The Northern Lights is a world known phenomenon, so for it to be replicated and displayed in the middle of London, is incredibly awe inspiring and unreal. It is definitely not something you’d want to miss.

Another feature is the return of the Black Victorians, a beautifully constructed dance performance inspired by nineteenth century studio photographs of black men, women and children. Exploring a complex, but often forgotten black presence in pre-Windrush Britain, this performance calls attention to previously “hidden figures” and challenges historical and contemporary perceptions.

Many more features and collaborations are yet to be announced closer to the festival dates, so to stay updated subscribe to FESTIVAL.ORG‘s newsletter and keep your eyes peeled!
