One Incredible Evening: Six Hundred Performers and a Million Dreams
On Monday 26 June Chickenshed will be staging a powerful and inspirational celebration of children’s hopes for the future in a truly monumental performance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall.
Inspired by Amnesty International UK’s illustrated children’s book of the same name, Dreams of Freedom will be the culmination of a project lasting more than a year, gathering children’s thoughts, opinions, ideas and dreams of freedom into a musical, theatrical and visual extravaganza presenting an unforgettable celebration of human rights for everyone.
Bringing together hundreds of children from many different state, independent and SEN schools, as well as Chickenshed’s Children Theatre members (from both our Kensington and Southgate bases), and backed by the 100-strong Tri-borough Music Hub's Young Singers Choir, the performance will offer a kaleidoscope of music, movement and song giving voice to children’s hopes for a better world.
Current Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell will be joining 9 year old Chickenshed participant Jude to live draw throughout the performance of Dreams of Freedom, with their brilliant illustrations projected to the entire Royal Albert Hall.
With original music and lyrics, Dreams of Freedom will be a wonderfully life-affirming glimpse of a world that could be, if we are ready to listen and dare to dream. It’s going to be a truly spectacular celebration of freedom with over 600 children performing, and we very much hope to see you there!
