The largest lights installation in the capital, ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ returns to London’s most iconic shopping street onThursday 15th November, with a magical, festive celebration of the switch-on moment.
From 5pm – 9pm, Regent Street will be traffic free from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus, enabling visitors to the area to soak up the festive atmosphere amongst Regent Street’s world-class shops and restaurants.
The switch-on event is brought to you by The Crown Estate, New West End Company and in partnership with Heart FM, and this year’s celebration will include an array of performances from special guests taking centre stage, with previous acts including Paloma Faith, Tom Odell and Clean Bandit.
As the most famous light switch on in London, shops, restaurants, hotels and bars will be opening their doors for the evening to offer exclusive treats and surprises – the perfect opportunity to buy gifts for loved ones or celebrate with them ahead of Christmas.
Regent Street has long been famous for its spectacular lights display during the Christmas season, as the first ever central London location to introduce festive lighting and decoration in 1954. The tradition has carried on and since influenced many other destinations nationwide to bring this spirit to their local communities through festive lighting schemes.
The fleet of spectacular large-scale ‘spirits’ will return for another year to soar the length of one of London’s most recognisable destinations. Designed by leading British lighting creatives, James Glancy Design, the scheme is a breath-taking gift to the street’s visitors to mark the ‘most wonderful time of the year’.
