Romeo and Juliet free at the
BP Big Screens in London
People across London can enjoy free culture on their doorstep as Romeo and Juliet is broadcast live in Trafalgar Square, IQL Summer Lawn in Stratford, Television Centre White City, The Scoop at London Bridge City and Arena Square in Wembley Park as the first in the Royal Opera House 2019 BP Big Screens series, on Tuesday 11 June 2019. Audiences can pack a picnic and head with friends and family to watch in one of 16 locations across the UK from Alnwick Castle in Northumberland to Queen’s Drive Space in Exmouth.

Kenneth MacMillan’s celebrated Shakespearean ballet Romeo and Juliet movingly depicts the love and heartbreak that literature’s most renowned couple experience in their short but passionate relationship. Royal Ballet Principal dancers Matthew Ball and Yasmine Naghdidance the young lovers Romeo and Juliet. The presenters will be Ore Oduba, Darcey Busselland Royal Ballet Principal Character Artist Kristen McNally.
The Royal Opera House BP Big Screens, which show free ballet and opera to audiences across the UK, began in 1987 and have increased in popularity ever since. In 2019, The Royal Opera offers three BP Big Screen performances: Romeo and Juliet on 11 June, Carmenon 2 July and The Marriage of Figaro on 9 July. These give audiences the chance to experience free culture at 24 sites across the UK, from Aberdeen to the Isle of Wight.
The BP Big Screen of Romeo and Juliet starts at 7pm with pre-show content. The ballet itself starts at 7.30pm and lasts two hours and 55 minutes with two intervals. All the Royal Opera House BP Big Screens are rated 12A. The next BP Big Screens are Carmen (2 July) and The Marriage of Figaro (9 July).
