iVisit.... Paxton & Whitfield

  • Paxton & Whitfield 93 Jermyn Street London, SW1Y 6JE United Kingdom (map)

Just setting foot in a room full of counters bearing some of the finest examples of artisan cheeses the world has to offer should be enough to excite the taste buds of any cheese lover.  From massive 40kg wheels of floral, nutty Alpine cheeses such as Comte and Gruyere and robust 25kg truckles of clothbound unpasteurised Cheddars to oozing wheels of sweet, silky Gorgonzola Dolce, discs of golden centred, white coated Bries and an assortment of leaf wrapped, charcoal rubbed or penicillin covered goats cheeses, the sight could not be more enticing.  And that's just the visual side!  Imagine the aroma of over 100 different cheeses...

Undoubtedly you will have heard of many of the cheeses, but there will likely be several which are new to you.  Come in and discover them and let the knowledgeable staff tell you a bit about them.  You can taste the cheeses and if one is not quite to your liking, we can recommend something that may be more to your taste.

And as if the cheese were not enough, add to the scene shelves and cupboards laden with crunchy crackers, salted oaty biscuits, giant jars of possibly the best Piccalilli and chutneys bursting with seasonal fruits.  All of these mouth-watering goods are presented among the extensive range of cheese accessories, everything you could possibly want to store, display, cut and serve your cheese.

A glowing recommendation from none other than Winston Churchill - "A gentleman buys his hats at Locks, his shoes at Lobbs, his shirts at Harvey and Hudson, his suits at Huntsman and his cheese at Paxton & Whitfield".
