Somerset House is delighted to announce the return of Skate Somerset House with Fortnum & Mason as part of a winter celebration of contemporary culture, including exhibitions, installations, special events and cutting-edge music across the site.
Visitors will be welcomed by a stunning 40ft Christmas tree, decorated by leading contemporary artist Ryan Gander OBE in a special co-commission by Somerset House and Fortnum & Mason.
There will be an array of activities for all ages onsite, both on and off the ice, from extra-special skating experiences at Skate Lates, and lessons with Skate School and Polar Cub Club for those wishing to hone their skills to festive shopping at Fortnum’s Christmas Arcade. Après-Skate, visitors can treat themselves to delicious food and drink at the cosy Fortnum’s Lodge.
Highlights from this year’s Skate Lates programme include takeovers from:
· Peckham-based radio station Balamii
· Eat Your Own Ears, the renowned founders of Field Day
· Premier club night Supa Dupa Fly
· Somerset House Studios artist Larry Achiampong, whose vibrant flag commission flies above the ice rink until the end of January.
