Best of Britannia heads to Bloomsbury Square from September 30 to October 2 2016 for its biggest ever London event, with fascinating hands-on workshops and how-to lessons, wine-tasting, cocktail-making, makeovers, and much more, as well as carefully curated British brands exhibiting their finest.
Among the things to see and do at, there’s a pop-up barber shop from Soho’s sharpest We Are Cuts, skincare advice from Puriskin and makeovers from The English Mineral Makeup Company.
There’s winetasting with South Downs-based Wiston Estate whose sparkling wines have made it a one-to-watch in wine circles. Taste Devon-made award-winning ice cream and sorbets from Purbeck Ice Cream, attend cocktail-making masterclasses by Pinkster Gin and artisan distillers Sweet Potato Spirit Company, plus try some of the best food and drinks available from British makers, from craft beers to artisan chocolate, and hand-crafted bottled cocktails from Longflint.
Luxury leather goods makers Holdall & Co. will be hand-embossing leather on-site. Fashion Enter’s team will be hosting a pattern-cutting workshop, a ‘how-to’ on using a sewing machine, and a make your own t-shirt area. The London-based not-for-profit fashion studio will also be making pieces from June Sarpong’s new Ldny collection. Plus watch hand embroidery specialists Hand & Lock in a demonstration of their craft, and watch a Harris Weaving Loom from Emir in action.
Best of Britannia London 2016 is also celebrating the third annual Buy British Day on October 1st. Focusing attention on the provenance and quality of British brands and British-made product, and in partnership with Made In Britain, Buy British Day supports British brands who make in Britain, encouraging British consumers to buy British – if only for one day.
On Buy British Day, Best of Britannia also partners with the Classic Car Boot Sale in King’s Cross, presenting the finest vintage fashion, accessories and homewares, all operating from the boots of their vintage vehicles, alongside an exhibit of classic cars, street food wagons, music and street theatre. With a special 2-for-1 ticket for only £8, you can see two great London events in one day.
Best of Britannia was founded by Antony Wallis, Esme Lynch and Joe Pidgeon; fashion designer Wayne Hemingway MBE is a non-executive director, David Evans of Grey Fox Blogcurates the menswear section, and both TV personality June Sarpong MBE and British menswear designer and TV personality Patrick Grant are ambassadors.
BOB London 2016 will be set in the neoclassical landmark of Victoria House in Bloomsbury Square – just a short walk from Holborn station.
