iVisit.... Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay brings a taste of Caribbean traditions to the UK this Easter

This Easter there’s something for everyone at Turtle Bay. The Caribbean restaurant and bar has free kite making kits for kids and has launched an exclusive new cocktail that will tickle your taste buds and blow any diet out of the water.

A popular tradition in the Caribbean over the Easter period is to gather as a family and fly kites together. To celebrate this and so everyone can get involved in this fun pastime, children* will receive a free kite making kit so they can put their creative skills to the test. A great surprise for the little turtles when they order from the kid’s menu and it’ll be a bonus for the mums and dads out there if it keeps them occupied too, even if it’s just for a little bit. But you’ll need to hurry – once the kite making kits have gone, they’re gone!

‘Rum Rabbit Rum’ is the latest alcoholic concoction that will be hopping its way onto the cocktail menu for the Easter period, from Monday 8th to Monday 22nd April. The scintillating selection of ingredients deliver a delicious combination of Caribbean flavours including Pussers (rum), white cacao and coconut milk.

If that’s not mouth-watering enough, the signature drink will also include a scoop of chocolate ice cream and will be topped off with a piece of brownie and a Caribbean dumpling dipped in rum caramel sauce. Even the rim of the glass is dipped in rum caramel making it the ultimate Easter treat, with a Caribbean twist.

Of course, the incredible Turtle Bay menu will be available over the Easter period so you can sample the delicious delights it has to offer to round off your visit. From Caribbean curries such as the curry goat, to meats that are marinated for 24 hours in Turtle Bay’s signature jerk mix and finished over open flames, this is Caribbean food at its best.

With so much to enjoy at your local Turtle Bay this Easter, book your table now: www.turtlebay.co.uk

*The Easter kite making kit is suitable for children aged four and over and only provided when a meal is purchased from the Little Turtles menu.

iVisit.... Museum of Last Parties

At The museum of last parties the end of the night is never quite reached. The bands play on, the dancers keep dancing, time has been called, but the bars are still serving. Curated by Shunt co-founder, Andrew Rutland, and Martin Green, co-creator of the 90’s nightclub Smashing, the museum of last parties celebrates the history, diversity and excitement of nightclubbing.

Dress up, dance on and join Wayne Hemingway and Vintage in the last nightclub on earth, ‘The Disco Apocalypse’, joined by a host of DJs, club promoters, bus boys and clubland clowns. Visit Jonny Trunk’s Space Age chillout room; sip cocktails at the Candlelight Club’s 1920’s soirée or dare to explore the dark and illicit music hall in the Victorian Walk.

Come dressed up to the nines and join in the celebrations, or visit our Disco Apocalypse dressing up room and make-up studio to embellish your look.

iVisit.... The Night Museum

As the sun begins to set, enter the secret world of The Night Museum — an unmissable week-long exploration of the hidden, the illicit and the lost. Join us in and around the Museum of London for a free after-dark mini-season of late-night parties, ghost clubs, dark electronica, dystopian visions, lost sounds, night voices, drinking dens, walks into darkness and mythical creatures of the night.

Lauren Parker, Senior Commissioning Curator at the Museum of London, said: “As the sun sets, The Night Museum will bring lost parts of London’s nightlife back to life. We’ll be paying homage to London’s club culture in the ‘Museum of Last Parties’ and inviting visitors to eavesdrop on some of London’s lost sounds. London’s night economy is a hot topic: with the uncertainty around Fabric’s future, and the arrival of the Night Tube, a lot is changing. We’re opening our doors after hours and want the city’s night owls to come and join the party.”

iVisit.... London Wine Week

  • The Nyetimber Hub (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

London Wine Week is a seven day festival celebrating the great and good of the city’s wine scene, including the bars and wine producers which make up this vibrant landscape as well as the best reds, whites, rosés and bubbles available.

Taking place in May each year the festival hosts events, discounted serves and exclusive offers. All you need to get involved is a wristband.

To get involved in the festivities you will need to wear a wristband; which cost £10 and are available to buy online. It is encouraged festival-goers to register in advance, although wristbands can also be purchased from one of the hubs which open on the first day of each festival. To access the discounts and offers all you have to do is show the bar staff your wristband. Essentially it’s your key to the city for the whole week, making you a part of the festival.

The Festival partners with over 100 bars for London Wine Week, all of whom serve a £5 wine flight of three delicious wines for wristband wearers. There is one flight available in each venue and you can see what these are online and in the guidebook – which you get for free when you collect your wristband. It’s a great chance to visit a new bar and try a new wines without hitting your bank balance.

The wine flights aren't shabby, bottom shelf bottles, but rather some beautiful varities and vintages from across the world. The flights are put together so each wine will either lead you to the next, compare a varitey or showcase the stark differences in the wine world. Last year festival attendees could immerse themselves in sunny Californian vineyards, dabble in the prestigious terroir of France or journey to Portugual, Chile and Australia in search of the perfect glass of wine, all in the comfort of London’s best bars.

London Wine Week is about more than just about exploring the bars. Every year, together with their partners, they host fun and engaging events. This could be masterclasses, winery tours, parties, tastings or paired meals. Want to learn how wine is made? How to taste wine like an expert? How to pair wine with food? Which wines are best to drink at certain times of the year? Or just meet loads of fun Londoners and drink delicious wine with them? There’s an event for everyone, amateur to expert. You can expect to see favourite faces from last year including Wines of Portugal among newcomers such as Vins de Provence all keen to showoff their best wines.
